Dear Friends,

We are living in the age of an all-pervasive reign of electronic media. The increasing fidelity of systems for recording picture and sound prompt many people to question whether a direct reception of art still makes sense if, without leaving home, one can reach for the remote control, a MP3 or a DVD record and delight in the "crystal-clear" quality of sound ?

As we search for an answer, we are aided by the always current and deeply humanistic truth that the basic aim of all artistic creativity has always been and continues to be the desire for understanding human nature based on the contact with another human being in the audience. Could a robot, no matter how perfect, mediate in such a delicate mission, be susceptible to human passions, be capable of suffering, belief, or love? True Art is a constant source of strength, beauty and wisdom that great composers bequeathed to us. For these reasons, I wholeheartedly wish that our visitors leave our concerts invariably ennobled, more courageous, stronger, full of harmony and joie de vivre.
